Qualifications to Apply for Rio Arriba YouthBuild

 

· Must be a youth between the age of 18 and 24 who has not completed high school or earned a GED

· A Resident of Rio Arriba County or a member of one of the Eight Northern Pueblos

 

AND one of the following:

· Low income youth

· Current or former foster youth

· Youth offender

· Child of incarcerated parent

· Adult offender

· Individual with a disability

· Migrant farm worker youth

Habitat for Humanity of Espanola Valley & Los Alamos, Inc is currently accepting applications for a New Habitat House Partner.

 

Should YOU apply?             

 

Yes, if you are a legal resident and the following applies to You:

  • You now live in inadequate housing and want a simple decent home.

  • You have lived in the Espanola or Los Alamos area for at least one year and live there now.

  • You are low to middle income and fit the financial guidelines below, You may be slightly above the guideline and still qualify.

  • You have current income and the ability to pay for a Habitat house.  Upon completion of the house you will have a interest free mortgage with Habitat for Humanity to repay the expenses of building your home, typically over a period of 30 years. The payments are affordable.

  • You are willing to help work alongside volunteers on the construction of your home as well as volunteer for other Habitat for Humanity activities.  This is called sweat equity.


If you qualify and you’re going to submit an application for a New Habitat House You will also need to submit a copy of your 2009 and 2010  income tax return, as well as a copy of all paystubs and/or income statements, such as Social Security award letter.  Please submit with your completed application.
